The Evolution of Artificial Intelligence in Film
Drawing inspiration from "2001: A Space Odyssey" "Her" and "I am Mother" I utilized my editing capabilities to explore the Evolution of Artificial Intelligence in Film. the montage is divided into three progressions: AI as a tool, as it integrates into the human world, and as a threat to humanity. Through meticulous editing and attention to mise-en-scène, cinematography, sound, and score my montage underscores the transformative journey of AI.
Perceived Realities
Inspired by postmodern horror films I crafted a narrative that comments on the profound intersection between technology and humanity. Through meticulous editing and scene selection, I overlayed dialogue from "Videodrome" over key moments from the film in addition to "The Ring" and "Cabin in the Woods" underscoring technology's eerie ability to infiltrate and manipulate our realities, blurring the lines between what's perceived and what's real.
Women As Spectatorship
Utilizing specific scenes from Japanese films, "Osaka Elegy", "No Regrets for our Youth", "Ugetsu", "When a Woman Ascends the Stairs" and "Japanese Summer: Double Suicide" I made a montage commenting on the representation of women in Japanese Cinema. To give the montage structure, I chose a Japanese folk song, "Otemoyan" that compliments my fast paced editing style. Navigating through four different acts, I highlighted themes of female subservience, the sexualization of women, societal expectations on gender, and their evolving independence.
